A day in the life of CH&L art director Elaine St. Louis

One of the joys of this job is the research. Really and truly, I am fortunate to be able to check out all of the newest, hottest and most wonderful products without having to think of them in terms of a client or a particular bit of editorial coverage. I simply look for lovely items and file them away for the future. This week, I was at the Denver Design District, and a few amazing new objects caught my eye…

Macro Fine Art Safari Table is beautiful–unlike anything you’ve ever seen. The rich golds, blacks, creams, and browns can work with almost any palette, but the unique and durable design is sure to stand out in any room. The design studio is local and can integrate any number of textural, photographic art images on the surface as well (or go for wall art in the same genre). Find this line at C.A.I. Designs.

Two colorways of the fun new Pompano fabric with fluffy chenille accents at Wesco Fabrics.

Dimensional textiles seem to be “in”… I saw this show-stopping, architectural Lizzo fabric at Kravet. You really need to touch it. Amazing.

Hickory Chair Duchamp Sideboard is elegant with clean, smooth lines and simple, tapered legs. A pewter grill in oval-shaped overlays make this piece a standout. Two interior drawers, one with a silver liner, provide storage. Don’t miss this piece on the floor at Hoff Miller

Scalamandre is at Phoebe Marsh and this stunning group of textiles in soft grey and yellow really caught my eye. Very new, very fresh and totally sophisticated. I want the floral for my bedroom.

This gorgeous new curvilinear Parkway outdoor furniture from Brown Jordan is at Columbine Showroom. You’ll want to build a patio just to get this stunning piece and enjoy your lovely Colorado spring/summer/fall.

Two showrooms are bringing in exciting new furniture lines in the next few months, and both are available to order now:

Objets, Ltd. is bringing in Christopher Guy: the attention to detail and innate simplicity of these pieces redefine the aesthetics of design. The distinctive proportion and scale of these home furnishings make them a centerpiece in any room. You can order them now, and Objets will have product in the showroom by April.

Whitney Evans Ltd. is bringing in the Dorothy Draper line from Kindel, bursting with clean elegance and touches of those ornate forms Draper is known for. These pieces are reproductions, adaptations and inspirations from Draper’s corporate design work. Many pieces can be ordered with custom dimensions and finishes.

Overall, a nice group of glamorous items, and I’m looking forward to my next foray into more shops and showrooms soon!
