Last Saturday, my oldest son Nick married a lovely young woman named Victoria. The wedding was outside and the weather was perfect; it was truly an evening to remember.
About a week before, I had dinner with Nick and Victoria; in discussing the final details, Victoria casually mentioned that in all the craziness of the upcoming event, no one thought about—or made arrangements for—where they would spend their wedding night. “I guess we’ll just go home,” she said.
Well, that simply would not do.
The next day I called downtown Denver’s Hotel Teatro. With less than a week before the big day I was able to book a Junior King Suite; the hotel staff even helped me with arranging a limousine to transport the newlyweds from the reception to the hotel.
The AAA Four Diamond boutique hotel is having a big year. 2011 marks its 100th anniversary, and it was recently awarded “Top 500 Hotels in the World” by Travel + Leisure magazine.
“Hotel Teatro blends the grandeur of yesterday with the modern conveniences and luxuries of today,” says Jim Turner, Hotel Teatro general manager. “Guests want for nothing, all the while relishing in the hotel’s charm and character.”
When I asked Nick how he liked the suite, his first response was, “It has two bathrooms!” But I was impressed most by the beautiful décor and long list of amenities. The bride and groom were able to order room service at midnight (you know how you never eat enough at your own wedding!) and then enjoyed a luxurious breakfast at Kevin Taylor’s Prima Ristorante.
Thanks to the fabulous Hotel Teatro, our newlyweds were able to end a perfect day with a a dreamy night. Only the best for my boy and his bride!
